Our Story

It all started with Jean-Luc Sigouin and his residential Snow Removal division back in 2005. At that time, to put a little bit of context, MySpace was bigger than Facebook, everyone had flip phones, and we were still renting DVD movies from the video store!

At that same time, Snow contractors had a traditional, paper-based approach. The operators were given a list of papers to know which clients to do. And the only way to supervise them was to drive around and make sure the job was being done right.

I mean, everything was manual!

After acquiring 2 competitors, Jean-Luc brought his machine counts to 32. He quickly realized he couldn’t grow the business the way he wanted to. Everything heavily relied on the operators, they pretty much had to know their route by heart. And Scaling that model was an operational nightmare.

Around that same time, GPS applications gained popularity and that’s when Jean-Luc had an epiphany;

“What about if we could create an application that shows the operators where to go, what to do, and logs everything in real-time.”

That would solve a lot of problems!

There was one little hiccup; Jean-Luc is not technical, so the application would need to be intuitive and easy to use. With that in mind, he went on a quest to find the right people, and with full-time programmers on board, Follosoft came to life!

It literally changed the game. The efficiency that it provided allowed him to scale the business, and went from 32 tractors to over 150 tractors!

With that success, the next question was; If it worked for us, will it work for others? The only way to know is to try… So he onboarded 6 new clients, people that he knew. After their first season, they all grew in size and numbers!

At that point, he knew he had something.

For the ones that know Jean-Luc personally, you know there’s nothing more satisfying for him than helping someone achieve their goals. He’s genuinely excited about contributing to other people’s success. That’s why he’s so involved with the community and the industry. That’s why he’s a household name and people are looking up to him.
